Evaluation question 2

How effective is the conbination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Our Digipak was produced in Adobe Photoshop, and it was important related to the music video and the actual song. below is an image showing my Digipak:

The front and back cover of the Digipak is in black and white, this represented our dress code in the music video as these were also the band's main colours so there was also a reference to the bands theme. The name of the band is 'Silent Sundays' so we decided that our digipak should also have a reference to our bands name, the first panel of the digipak is a church door, the reason we went with the church theme was because of the bands name, the sunday part. Once the door is opened the rest of the digipak shows the front of a church, by making our digipak like this we were showing our audience and opening into the album through the digipak and I found this very effective.

The Magazine advert was also created in Adobe Photoshop and below is an image showing the magazine advert:

The magazine advert needed to have reference to our music video and the bands main theme's, so we decided to make the main image the inside of the churchm which is also found on the inside of the digipak, we used the same font as the one found on the digipak and found that the way our magazine advert looks was very effective as it has strong links to the bands theme and style.

Evaluation question 3 (wordle)

Wordle: BLOG

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Before we began the process of filming our music video we had chosen our music and the genre of it which was indie, we made a survey in order for us find out who our target audience would be and were they mostly view music videos.

The image above shows the survey and the results we gained from this showing that most young teenagers watch music videos on YouTube and as we were opting to upload our music video onto YouTube this will be great our target audience, who are teenagers and young adults, will easily be able to view it. The feedback we received from out audience was mainly positive as they enjoyed the music video, this was good for us as we had worked hard to get the band together film and edit the music video. Most of our audience particularly enjoyed the lip synching as they thought this was immaculately done and was not recognisable unless told, they also enjoyed our props as our dress was black and white and shirt and tie as we tried to look as indie as possible, this was great for us that audience liked our dress code because we felt that this was extremely important when portraying an indie band.

To receive audience feedback we asked some of our target audience some important questions about our music video, these were as followed:

1. Did you enjoy the music video
Out of 12 people who we asked this 7 replied saying yes they enjoyed it, and 5 replied saying no they didn't enjoy, overall the majority of those asked enjoyed it so we were satisfied with this as we wanted to make this a fun and enjoyable video for the audience.

2. What did you most like about the music video?
We asked one of our target audience who had enjoyed the music video this question, and they replied saying "I mostly loved the music video because it tells a story which go along with the lyrics, and you guys have done that so well to show this in the music video". From these feedback I learned that the audience did see what the video was about and what the meaning of the video is about, so this showed that we had done what we wanted to do successfully with our target audience recognising this.

3. What did you not like about the music video?
We asked this to those of our target audience who replied saying they did not enjoy the music video,  so we wanted to know why, this was the answer we got. " Towards the end of the video the editing got sloppy, and the lip synching was not matching with the sound of the song, and camera work was slightly off point when the guy was walking down the hall way". From these feedback I was not surprised at what the audience did not like about the music video because we did recognise this and tried our best to fix this but did not have enough time to do so, also with the camera work showing the guy walking down the hall way, this was done in a hurry and should have been more careful when recording it to make sure the camera work was good.

4. If you could change anything about video, what would it be?
For the question the main reply that kept popping up was, "we wanted to see the band more", the reason why we did not show the band as much because before filming and beginning the process of this music videos we researched indie bands and songs, and viewed some of their videos, one of our inspirations was the song 'Dani California' by the 'Red Hot Chilli Peppers', and some of the songs by 'The Arctic Monkeys' we realised that they mainly showed the lead singer throughout the whole video, and only show a few clips of the band throughout the video, this was why we did not show the band as a whole a lot throughout the music video, and showed me, the lead singer a lot throughout the music video.
